Pen on paper, indelible piece, deployment. The man smoking was my roommate who bunked with me in a tiny shipping container. He wasn't smoking in real life but I had him pose like he was. Hes watching the news where a forest is on fire and the journalist is shocked. The top is reality and naturalistic and the rest above the man are his thoughts, dreams, and nightmares. A castle under siege, a beach, mountains, a fallen cross, etc. It's what goes through the soldiers head while in a foreign country, while disaster is stricking back home. The feeling of uncertainty and inability.
